Patriotic homemade Play Dough: a 5 min tutorial

Ingredients:

1 cup water
1cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 tablespoon oil

Cook all of these together in a saucepan on the stove over med-high heat for a few minuets, until it forms a lump in the pan. Turn it out onto lightly floured surface counter, and knead.

 Add food coloring if desired.

Keep in a Tupperware container to keep it soft.
Non-edible.

Once it looks like this, it's ready to turn out and knead.

The kids helped.

This kept them busy for a few hours.

Okay, maybe it just felt like a few hours...

It was peaceful. :)
Time to think.
Time to sip a coffee.
Time to chill.

  2. So fun! My mom used to do this with us when we were kids and we loved it! I can't wait to try it with my son when he's old enough to know not to eat it :)

  3. I have used a playdough recipe like this for some time, fab isn't it. You can also add the food colouring whilst 'cooking' it , less messy :-)
